My after reading opinion (May 24, 2018):- Almost in any sports, speed is crucial for success. If you are an athlete and you are skipping speed training, then you are making a big mistake.Sports drills are must to include in any sport person's training schedule. This types of sports attribute makes an athlete far more superior.
It's obvious, different sports have different types of speed drills. What types of speed drills a footballer practice generally, a swimmer may not practice same speed conditioning. What a 100m runner includes in their practice schedule, a combat athlete may no list the same exercise to increase their speed attributes. Here in the above "Speed Training" book, the author includes only those types of drills which are necessary only in combat sports, such as - Boxing, Wrestling, MMA, Grappling, Jiu-Jitsu etc. What I am interested in.
After reading this book, I have learned so many valuable stuffs. Some drills are known, some are completely unknown, Some can be done as solo training, some need partners. The author covers so many different variations of speed training drills, such as - Visual Reflexes, Tactile Reflexes, Auditory Reflexes, Adaptation Speed, Initiation Speed, Movement Speed, Alteration Speed, Speed Hampering etc. It's worth reading the book. Some of the drills I might include in my training schedule, to improve my speed attribute for MMA. Overall it's a very good book.
Thank you.
