My after reading opinion (March 20, 2018):-
If I want to learn a subject, on which I don't have any previous knowledge, I prefer starting with a basic beginners guide book. Instead of in-depth study, for the 1st time one should start from a shallow overview of that subject. Then later if he/she is interested to know more, then s/he might start reading more advanced books.
In this scenario, if the subject is any academic subject, I prefer to start with a high school textbook. Because those are designed for basically school kids, comes with clear explanations, easy to understand and a complete brief overview of that entire subject.

As an example, psychology is a completely new subject to me and have zero prior experience. Also it's not my main subject or I am not going to become any professional psychiatrist or psychologist. I am learning it just for the sake of my hobby. who cares !?! 😏 Anyhow I got interest about psychology and start reading.

So, what is Psychology? Is it just the science of human mind or some sort of behavioral analysis or something more than that? Almost everyone of us have heard the term 'psychology' a lots of time, but a very few of them will be able to describe it properly. If you say it's the science of human mind, then here is another question for you. What is mind? 😶 (Not to mention, brain and mind are not the same things).

We human beings feel proud of ourselves saying we are the most intelligent species comes with the brightest mind. We claim to reveal the mysteries of the universe. But how much really do we know about our mind? Even the psychologists are yet to reveal the mysteries of the 'human mind'.

However modern psychology is considered as a new stream, as the first experimental laboratory is
Wilhelm Wundt in 1902
established in 1879 in Leipzig, Germany by Wilhelm Windt. So obviously lot's of experiment and study is still needed and lot more new theories are going to established in near future.

This book I have just read is a Indian School Board (CBSE) high school textbook for standard 11. It provides a basic overview of the subject and contents 9 chapters. Below I have tried to give a brief overview of each one.

Chapter 1 is of course an introductory chapter. It explanations the basic things like 'What is Psychology?', the understanding of human mind and behaviors, the evolution, the roles psychology in different domains of our society etc.

What I like most about this subject is that, it's not just only for those people who wants to become a psychiatrist or wants to get hired for counseling jobs in different sectors. Instead it's a subject which can be beneficial to any person in their personal life. Because psychology helps us to understand human mind and behaviors better way, so we can understand ourselves better, we can understand others better and our surroundings. The proper knowledge of psychology helps us to become a better social beings.

Chapter 2 is all about different methodology of psychological experiments, which psychologists conducts to established new theories in this field.

Chapter 3 explains two main factors - biological and cultural, which manipulates the developments of human behaviors.

Chapter 4 explains different stages of human developments - infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age

Chapter 5 describes different sensory functions, attentional and perceptual processes to receive different stimuli to establish a better understanding about our living environment.

Chapter 6 , different learning methodologies, which helps to understand how we learn different things.

Chapter 7 , all about human memory, a very important section.

Chapter 8 describes the nature of thinking and reasoning.

Chapter 9 helps you to get a better understanding of motivation and emotion.

This is the end of the book, but not the end of the subject as it is the first part (Class 11). The second part, which is included in class 12 school curriculum, holds the other halves of the subject.
Wish to finish the other book soon, to complete the overall knowledge of the subject.

Many new valuable information I have learned from a vary basic high school textbook. Psychology is a very interesting subject.

Thanks for reading my blog post. Be connected.

Thank you.

My after reading opinion (March 09, 2017):- I am frequently purchasing Feluda comics series for my nieces. Actually I am using the term 'for my nieces' just as an excuse. The reality is I can not resist myself to buy and read those wonderful comics versions. I am buying it for my own sake and saying that I am buying it for my nieces (just as a bahane) 😉 . After buying these books I am reading and enjoying first and then giving them to my nieces as a gift. That's the naughty truth. 😃

From the childhood I love reading comics a lot. And when I was teenager Feluda was one of my favourite detective character. Back in those days I wondered if I could read my favourite detective stories in my favourite format (comics). But unfortunately there was no comics versions those days. That's why now I am fulfilling my childhood wishes reading those comics in my adulthood just like a kid with mu nieces.

Whatever, this time its "Darjeeling Jamjomat", an adventurous Feluda  detective story in the beautiful hilly area of North Bengal, was originally published on 'Sharadiya Desh' in 1986.
